8-Hour Refresher and 24-Hour Technician Training
hosted by Santa Maria Valley RETA and Hancock College
November 16th-20th, 2015
8-Hour Technician Refresher Training: Those employees who are trained in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 (q)(6) shall receive annual refresher training of sufficient content and duration to maintain their competencies, or shall demonstrate competency in those areas at least annually.
8-Hour First Responder Refresher Command Team: This course is also designed to cover the skill requirements expected of technician responders and command team members (Plant IC, Lead Operator, Notification Unit Leader, Evacuation Supervisor), with emphasis on teaming with public safety. The Command Team and Operations personnel will be trained to stop an emergency situation when it is small and to set up for and support the needs of the technician responder.
Course Cost: $350 per person: includes an interactive workbook with up-to-date information, and engaging hands-on experiences.
24-Hour Technician Training: This intensive three-day seminar is designed for all plant personnel that will respond to an ammonia release and engage an incident action plan that involves moving into IDLH -over 300 PPM. This course meets OSHA 192.120(q)(6)(iii) and establishes that a Hazardous Materials Technician is an individual who respond to releases or potential release for the purpose of stopping the release. They assume a more aggressive role than a first responder at the operations level in that they will approach the point of release in order to plug, patch or otherwise stop the release of a hazardous substance. Hazardous materials technicians shall have received at least 24 hours of training equal to the first responder operations level
Course Cost: $650 per person: includes an interactive workbook with up-to-date information, and an engaging hands-on experiences.
Date & Location: Training scheduled for the week of November 16th at Allan Hancock College, in Lompoc, CA.
