Good afternoon, I hope things are well as the temps are cranking up and the days are getting longer.  It is back to the grind for us all, with a glimmer of RETA hope on the horizon…

We are planning our next meeting for Tuesday, May 19th at Burris Refrigerated Logistics in Federalsburg, MD.  The address there is:

3946 Federalsburg Hwy, Federalsburg, MD 21632

The meeting will kick off as we have in the past at 6 PM for a quick bite and fellowship, then roll into the business portion at 6 30 PM.

The subject matter will be presented by Stephen Moore with Electronic Technologies Corp.  (See www.electronictechcorp.com)

The specific focus will be on strategies to optimize the refrigeration and HVAC systems so that it is easier to support while also significantly reducing energy consumption.

They will focus on the following items:

  • Full Plant Control
    • Temperature Control & Reporting
    • HVAC & Lighting Control
    • Compressor Staging & Modulation
    • Alarms & Remote Access
    • Graphical Site Layout
  • Energy Management
    • Precise Superheat
      • Reduce the load on compressors, using less energy to maintain suction pressure target
      • Reduce Compressor Runtime
    • Adaptive Defrost
      • Total Efficiency: Calculate the amount of ice formed on the coil and only defrost when needed
      • Skip Defrost: If no ice is formed, skip a scheduled defrost.
      • Less heat going into the product, increasing product quality
    • Fan Pulsing
      • Fans turn off when cooling is off, reducing the energy consumption during temperature control
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
      • Law of Affinity - Regulate motor speed to significantly reduce energy
      • increase lifespan of equipment (motor bearings and belts)save lifespan and energy utilization
  • Demand Response
    • Load Shedding
    • Night Setback

This is all applicable information for each of us to utilize on a daily basis in our industry.  We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, the 19th!

Thanks,

Andy
